Port Douglas is tropical, casual and warm all year, so you can pack light. Here's what you'll actually use.
Clothes
- Light, breathable clothing: cotton and linen shirts, shorts and summer dresses.
- Swimwear (at least two sets, so one can dry).
- One smart-casual outfit for dinner. Even nice restaurants are relaxed.
- A light jumper for winter evenings and the cooler Tablelands.
- A light rain jacket in the wet season (roughly November to April).
Sun and water
- A wide-brim hat, sunglasses and high-SPF reef-safe sunscreen.
- A rash vest. Stinger suits are usually provided on reef trips.
- A reusable water bottle.
Rainforest days
- Comfortable shoes with grip for boardwalks and wet rocks.
- Water shoes for Mossman Gorge and creek swims.
- Insect repellent.
- A small dry bag for your phone.
Handy extras
- Motion sickness tablets for boat trips and the winding range roads.
- Offline maps. Coverage is patchy north of the Daintree River.
- An Australian power adapter (Type I) for international visitors.
Luggage on your transfer
Our vans take up to 7 passengers with standard luggage. If you're bringing golf clubs, a surfboard, a bike or extra-large bags, add a note when you book so we match the right vehicle. See Cairns Airport to Port Douglas transfers.
